Exactly 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major film company and bringing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Gang

The preview shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
