Sam Fender has handed over the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound honor cash to the trust for venues, which functions to save the Britain's grassroots concert spaces.

The star was presented with the prize on October 16 as his third album his work was declared the top album of the last 12 months.

Fender has decided to hand the money over to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the crucial part small stages played in his early career.

"I personally wouldn't be doing this success if it wasn't for all the gigs I did around the area, and elsewhere, when I was starting out," said Sam Fender. "These locations are legendary, but they are facing challenges."

Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these spaces have ceased operations – approximately one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.

In the last year, top acts including Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the trust in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by adding a small levy to their ticket costs, which supports local stages.

He also joined in, generating in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to assist thirty-eight local spots across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The money supported spaces that were facing imminent closure due to difficulties arising from floods, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as regulatory hurdles, legal disputes and noise complaints.

Other venues were granted financial assistance in modernizing infrastructure and technical equipment that helped musicians and concertgoers.

"The concept that revenue from concerts in big venues supports the independent spots, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just common sense," Fender has stated.

The musician is among several artists to give his award winnings to worthy causes.

Back when they earned the award in the mid-90s for their album Different Class, vocalist the singer announced that the band would contribute their cash to the charity War Child.

During 2002, rapper and singer the artist divided her bounty between multiple charities, such as the NSPCC and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"I also gave a £1,000 to the center, to their classes, because I practiced gymnastics when I was a child and they required updated gear," the artist told the media.

Previously, they contributed their prize money to the community center that supported their act, in addition to other local music groups.

And the 1994 recipients M People gave their award to a multiple sclerosis charity after a close contact was diagnosed the illness.

"Receiving the award was quite enough," remarked vocalist Small. "The prize was the extra but we didn't require the extra, because we had the cake. So our winning impacted somebody else's life."

Recently, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had saved two local spots in that region, by bringing them into local control.

One venue in Southampton and the second in that location were purchased under the public acquisition scheme, which is supported by a national body and supporters who acquire "ownership units" in the venues.
